Temporal Comparison

Is migrating from self-hosted Temporal to Catalyst possible, and what changes are needed?

Yes, migration is possible but requires adapting your workflows. Temporal uses code-first workflows with deterministic replay. Catalyst uses Dapr Workflows for durable execution, which have a different programming model. You will need to rewrite workflow definitions. However, Catalyst's agent runners allow you to keep existing agent frameworks like LangGraph or CrewAI without change. The migration trades Temporal's mature deterministic engine for Catalyst's managed operations and AI-native features like workload identity and MCP tool policy.
