How is process orchestration different from AI agent orchestration?

Process orchestration usually coordinates known business steps, such as approvals, order processing, or service workflows. The path is often designed in advance. AI agent orchestration must handle more uncertainty because the agent may choose tools, branch based on model output, or collaborate with other agents at runtime. That makes state, recovery, auditability, and policy more complex. Traditional process orchestration is still useful, especially for business workflows.
