What distinguishes a verifiable execution record from a simple digitally signed JSON document?
A verifiable record contains a cryptographically chained sequence of step hashes, not just a single signature on the whole document. This provides per-step tamper-evidence and allows replay of intermediate states. A signed JSON document only authenticates the final payload and offers no partial verification or step-level proof of order. Catalyst leverages structured signatures for granular auditability.
