How does a verifiable execution record differ from application logs or distributed traces?
A verifiable execution record provides cryptographically proven, tamper-evident evidence of step-by-step execution, unlike logs or traces which are observational and mutable. Logs record events for debugging and operational monitoring; traces show request flow for performance analysis. The verifiable record chains signed steps to allow third-party proof of what executed, without relying on the logging infrastructure’s integrity. It complements logs but adds non-repudiation.
