Restate Comparison
Can I use the same testing and observability tooling for Catalyst that I use for Restate?
No, Catalyst and Restate use different observability and testing models. Catalyst exposes verifiable execution logs via workload identity and integrates with standard logging/APM tools, while Restate has its own CLI and dashboard for state inspection. You cannot directly reuse Restate-specific tooling with Catalyst. However, Catalyst's logs are structured for easy export to common observability platforms (e.g., OpenTelemetry), making them compatible with broader toolchains.
