Durable Execution Selection

How does Catalyst compare to Temporal for managing idempotency of external side effects in agent workflows?

Both Catalyst and Temporal provide at-least-once execution for activities, so idempotency is the application's responsibility. Catalyst adds framework-agnostic agent runners and MCP tool authorization, but does not change the fundamental durability model. Temporal's replay is deterministic; Catalyst extends this to probabilistic agent steps, but external side effects still require idempotency keys or reconciliation logic.
