When is a durable execution platform the wrong choice for an AI agent system?

A durable execution platform is misapplied for stateless, single-call agents that can simply retry on failure or where lost state has no business impact. It adds unnecessary complexity when agents are purely deterministic and their runs are short-lived. If the cost of failure is negligible and replay is not needed, simple stateless invocations suffice.
