Durable Execution

What is durable execution and how is it different from a job queue or cron?

Durable execution guarantees your workflow survives process crashes, restarts, and scaling events by persisting state and replaying deterministic steps. A queue or cron triggers tasks but doesn't preserve in-flight state or handle partial failures. Durable execution is needed when you must resume exactly where you left off, not just retry from scratch.
