Dapr 1.18 puts Workflow and security center stage, with a wave of production-focused capabilities: workflow access policies, tamper detection, concurrency limits, and history context propagation.

The Dapr maintainers and contributors got together to walk through what's new and show it running. The session opened with why workflow security matters in production, including lessons from the Uniphar case study, then moved into live demos of the new features and how they fit together.

It also showed how these features run on Diagrid Catalyst, the best place to run Dapr 1.18 workloads in production, with managed Dapr Workflow that takes the operational burden off your team.

  • How Uniphar Built Reliable Systems with Dapr Workflow
  • Workflow History Context Propagation and Tamper Detection: typed access to earlier execution history without threading by hand, plus cryptographically signed, tamper-evident workflow history for auditable processes
  • Workflow Access Policies: a declarative, secure-by-default allow-list for which apps may invoke which workflows and activities, with a focus on multi-app workflow security
  • Human-in-the-Loop Workflows in Diagrid Catalyst: approvals, escalations, and inputs directly in your workflows
  • Workflow Concurrency Limits: global and per-name caps that hold across every replica
  • Dapr Agents with Human-in-the-Loop and Hooks: run AI workloads reliably and securely with the Python framework built on Dapr Workflow
