As part of the growing ecosystem of platform engineering solutions that support Dapr,

Diagrid and Mirantis have partnered to simplify and standardize Dapr deployments on Kubernetes clusters, thanks to the Mirantis open source project k0rdent. With the Dapr service template available in k0rdent, development teams can deploy Dapr to hundreds of clusters with ease.

By managing Kubernetes clusters across any infrastructure, k0rdent simplifies multi-cluster management and enables enterprises to accelerate innovation while enforcing compliance. As Dapr is seeing rapid adoption among enterprise platform engineering teams, k0rdent makes it easy for platform engineers to create customized Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) that leverage all of Dapr’s functionality.

“Through our combined commitment to open source and our work through the CNCF, Dapr and k0rdent provide a streamlined path to building, deploying, and running distributed applications at scale,” says Mark Fussell, co-founder and CEO of Diagrid.  “Development teams expect greater productivity from their tooling, and solutions like Dapr are already known to improve developer and platform team efficiency by over 30%.  With the addition of solutions like k0rdent, platform teams can now design and automate IDPs, implementing ‘Golden Paths’ and workflows with Dapr to accelerate their solutions.”

"k0rdent gives platform engineers a powerful, Kubernetes-native environment for managing applications across infrastructures while ensuring compliance and driving innovation," said Randy Bias, vice president of Open Source Strategy and Technology at Mirantis. "Partnering with Dapr strengthens the k0rdent ecosystem and brings additional value to users of open-source for distributed computing."

A longtime proponent of open source, and an active contributor to more than 50 open source projects, Mirantis made k0rdent open for public use and welcomes technologists worldwide to join the project. k0rdent is part of a succession of open-source projects recently released by Mirantis, including Rockoon, Blueprint Operator, and Blueprint Controller.

Zero Trust Security for Distributed Applications with Dapr

Dapr provides a blueprint for zero trust security posture in distributed systems by assigning inherent application identities to all apps and enabling mTLS for all interservice and infrastructure communication. These features help developers and platform engineers to meet stringent security requirements without slowing down application development.
